How do I get a La Meva Salut account?
To open a La Meva Salut account you need three things:
- A health card (TSI, targeta sanitària individual)
- To be 16 or over
- One digital way to identify yourself
There is nothing to pay for the account or for the app. The account is what lets you book an appointment at your CAP (centre d’atenció primària, the public health centre for your address), read your test results, see your medication plan, and message your health team through eConsulta.
Does this apply to me
Yes, if you hold a health card. Nothing here depends on your immigration status — the card is the gate, and the card is granted on the padrón (Barcelona City Council’s register of residents), not on your papers. If you do not have a card yet, get that first.
What it costs
There is nothing to pay for the account or for the app. idCAT Mòbil, one of the three ways of identifying yourself, is free in the Generalitat’s own words: “Gratuït: sense cap cost per a l’usuari”, free, at no cost to the user.
What to bring
To the CAP:
- Your identity document — DNI, NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero, the foreigner identification number) or passport
- Your health card
Nothing else. Bring the mobile phone you actually use, and know the email address you actually read, because both matter more than anything else in this answer.
Where to go, and how to book
Three ways to identify yourself, and you need one of them.
- A password you request in person at your CAP. This is the route that needs no other digital identity, and it is the one to use if the others have failed.
- idCAT Mòbil, a free digital identity. You can set it up online, or in person at one of the Generalitat’s citizen-help offices, which the Generalitat also calls an OAC (Oficina d’Atenció Ciutadana). These are the Generalitat’s offices, not Barcelona City Council’s — the council calls its own counters OACs too, so check whose office you are walking into. idCAT Mòbil works on both the website and the app.
- A digital certificate. Website only, not the app.
Getting the CAP password, step by step
- Go to your CAP with your identity document and your health card.
- The desk identifies you and starts the password process. While you are there, check that the email address and the mobile number they hold for you are the ones you actually use. This is the step people get wrong, and everything else depends on it.
- You then receive two things: an email with a link, and an SMS with a code.
- Open the link. Enter your document number — DNI, NIE, passport, or the CIP (codi d’identificació personal) printed on your card. Create a password of at least 8 characters, containing at least one capital letter, one small letter and one number. Enter the code from the SMS.
- The link and the code are valid for 4 days.
Every login needs a text message
Setting the password is not the last time you will need your phone. On the website and in the app alike, each login sends a five-digit code by SMS to the mobile number registered in the system, and you type that code into a pop-up window to get in. If you have no working mobile number, or the number on file is one you no longer use, the account will not open for you. Correct the number at the CAP before you go any further.
How long it takes
The CAP visit itself is short, and the email and the SMS follow from the same identification. Set the password the same day if you can, because of the 4-day limit.
What happens next
You log in at lamevasalut.gencat.cat or in the La Meva Salut app. Inside you get:
- Clinical reports and diagnoses
- Test results
- Your current medication plan
- Your vaccination record
- Waiting-list information
- Appointment booking for your CAP
- eConsulta
Your card also exists in digital form there, generated automatically once your CIP is assigned — but CatSalut says the card-reading systems are still being rolled out, so for a pharmacy take your card, digital or plastic, and do not rely on the phone alone.
About eConsulta
It is a secure written message to your health team, not a chat and not urgent care. You can attach up to three files — BMP, GIF, PNG, JPG, TIF or PDF — up to 5 MB. If no professional appears for the reason you choose, or a notice says the service is switched off, the centre cannot be reached that way, so telephone them instead. For something urgent, call 061 Salut Respon, free, 24 hours a day; or go to your CAP, a CUAP (centre d’urgències d’atenció primària, a 24-hour urgent primary care centre) or a hospital emergency department. For an emergency, call 112.
For your children
A parent or legal guardian can ask at the CAP for access to a child’s La Meva Salut, bringing:
- Their own identity document
- Their own health card
- The child’s health card
- The family book, or the document proving legal responsibility
Both parents can have access. From 16 to 18 the young person has to consent, because health-decision adulthood is recognised from 16 in Catalonia, and a parent’s access ends automatically on the child’s 18th birthday.
What goes wrong
- The password expires after one year, and the only warning is inside the app, fifteen days before. When it expires you regenerate it yourself; you do not have to return to the CAP if your contact details have not changed.
- If the 4 days pass and you never created the password, you can call 061 Salut Respon and ask them to resend the email and the SMS — but only if your email address is still the same one. If your phone number or your email has changed, you have to go back to the CAP.
- The site and the app exist in Catalan, Spanish and Aranese only. There is no English and no Tagalog version, and clinical documents appear in whatever language they were written in, so bring someone who reads Catalan or Spanish for the first login if that helps.
