What these prices are, and what they are not.
They are fares the airline advertised on its own page on the day we read it. They are not live quotes, not held seats, and not a booking. Nobody here takes a payment. The airline or the search we hand you to sets the final price, and it can differ.
How “below usual” is worked out
Each daily check records the cheapest fare we saw for a route in one comparable class — same trip type, same cabin. The line a fare is judged against is the median of those daily lows, so one Christmas peak or one flash sale cannot move it. A fare is called below usual only when it sits at least 5% under that median, and the card always prints the median, the gap and how many days of our own checks it came from.
Until there are 7 days of checks for a route, no route gets a verdict — the card says how many days have been recorded instead. We would rather say “we do not know yet” than invent a saving.
Fares older than 48 hours drop off the board, and a fare whose departure date has passed is removed. An empty route means we lacked evidence, not that flights are sold out.
