If you have a refusal, expulsion order, court paper or deadline
Do not spend days comparing websites. Keep the envelope and every page, note when you received it, and ask a lawyer or SAIER to check the deadline today. An appointment request does not pause a deadline.

FILIPINO CONNECTIONS
What the evidence actually supports
We found language and community links, but no Barcelona immigration lawyer whose Filipino nationality and current Spanish practising status were both established by reliable public sources. We will not infer nationality from a name, photo or client base.
Need Filipino or Tagalog?
Ask Ajuridic first. Its official immigration page explicitly offers Filipino on request with advance booking.
Ask who interprets. Confirm confidentiality, independence and any extra fee before sending documents.
Keep legal roles clear. A Tagalog-speaking accountant or case manager can help communication, but only a practising lawyer should give reserved legal advice or represent you in court.
Filipino-community connection
MSM Legal Consulting
Verify the assigned lawyer
A Barcelona immigration practice with a documented connection to the Filipino community.
What we could verify
A published Integrated Bar of the Philippines report says Manuel Silva spoke about Spanish residency pathways for OFWs at a 2024 legal-empowerment event hosted at the Philippine Consulate in Barcelona. That supports a community connection; it is not proof of Spanish bar status.
Languages
The website is available in English; ask who will personally handle the consultation and in which language
Handles
Student, work and family routes, renewals, arraigo, long residence, nationality and labour matters.
Appointment
Carrer de Pelai office and online video consultation
Published starting fee
€49.95 · 30-minute online immigration-admin consultationThe booking page says this is deducted if a service is booked. Confirm whether the appointment is with a practising abogado or an administrative adviser.
Professional status
The site calls the team lawyers, but this review did not locate an ICAB number or an independently confirmed practising entry for Manuel Silva Manzanero.
BEFORE YOU PAY
Free public legal help
Private counsel is useful when you want one person to own a case, but it is not always the right first stop.
Barcelona residents
SOJ–SAIER immigration legal service
SAIER serves people living in Barcelona with immigration, refugee and return questions. ICAB lawyers provide its immigration legal advice. Book through the city appointment page; urgent social or legal situations can be assessed at Carrer de Tarragona, 141.
The public Legal Guidance Service (SOJ) explains whether your case may qualify for asistencia jurídica gratuita and helps with the application. Eligibility and coverage depend on the case and your circumstances; a free orientation is not itself a full lawyer appointment.
Search the individual—not only the firm name—and confirm they are currently practising (ejerciente). Ask which person will sign your filing and appear on any appeal.
Look up the individual in the national census or ICAB register. “Legal consultant,” “immigration specialist” and “gestor” do not necessarily mean practising lawyer.
02
Describe the problem, not the permit you think you need
Share nationality, current status, dates in and out of Spain, family relationship, work situation and every decision already received. Let counsel identify the route.
03
Ask what the quoted fee includes
Initial analysis, document checklist, filing, follow-up requests, appeals, VAT, government fees, sworn translations, apostilles and family members can all be separate.
04
Demand the written budget and engagement letter
In Catalonia, consumers are entitled to prior price information. The hoja de encargo should identify the professional, work, costs, payment stages and exclusions.
05
Know who actually handles the file
Ask whether you will speak to the named lawyer, a case manager or an administrative adviser, and how quickly they answer deadline-sensitive messages.
06
Keep control of your originals and account
Send copies unless an original is required, keep receipts, and make sure you can access the filed application and its receipt. Never share Cl@ve or certificate passwords casually.
SAVE THE FIRST FEE
Bring one clean timeline
A prepared first meeting spends less time reconstructing your story and more time testing your options.
Passport photo page and every stamped page
Current and previous NIE/TIE cards
All resolutions, notifications and envelopes
Dates you entered and left Spain
Padrón history, if relevant
Contracts, payslips and Social Security record
Marriage, birth or partnership records
Criminal-record certificates already obtained
Proof of applications already filed
Messages from a previous adviser
Your three most important questions
The deadline you are worried about
Black out unrelated bank transactions and third-party ID numbers before sending documents for a price quote. Use the firm’s secure upload if it has one; ask before emailing a full passport.
FAQ
Questions to settle before appointing anyone
Do I need a lawyer for every immigration application?
No. Many applications can be filed personally, and SAIER can provide free orientation. A lawyer becomes especially valuable when the route is unclear, evidence is difficult, a deadline is running, a refusal must be challenged, or court proceedings may follow.
Is a gestor the same as an immigration lawyer?
No. A qualified gestor administrativo can handle many administrative filings. A practising lawyer provides legal advice and can conduct legal defence; court representation may also require a procurador. Ask which role you are buying.
Does “free consultation” mean the application is free?
No. It usually means an initial screening or sales call. Ask how long it lasts, whether a lawyer attends, whether you receive written advice, and what the full case will cost.
Can a firm guarantee approval or a fast appointment?
No legitimate adviser controls the authority’s decision or processing time. Counsel can choose a sound route, prepare evidence, file correctly and challenge errors. Treat guarantees as a warning sign.
Can I switch lawyers?
Generally yes. Read the engagement letter for outstanding fees, ask for your file and proof of every submission, and have the new lawyer check deadlines before ending representation. In court proceedings, formal substitution steps may apply.
Which firm is “best”?
There is no useful universal ranking. The better match is the professional who has handled your exact route, explains risks in a language you understand, names who will do the work, gives a complete written budget and does not promise an outcome.

Provider facts come from official firm pages unless stated otherwise. A firm’s statement that a lawyer is registered is useful but is not a live status check; use the official census before retaining counsel. Fees and availability change.
